ST. LOUIS — A 43-year-old man has been charged in connection to a south city murder.
Kevin A. Patrick is facing one count of first-degree involuntary manslaughter, one count of armed criminal action and one count of having a loaded weapon while intoxicated after a man was found shot to death in St. Louis’ Carondelet neighborhood earlier this week.
Clenelle Johnson, 56, was found shot to death at home near Bates Street and Colorado Avenue Monday afternoon.
According to a court documents, Johnson went into a home in the 1000 block of Bates Avenue to see if anyone could help with a labor job down the street. The home was being rehabbed at the front door was opened. As Johnson walked in and ‘loudly announced his intentions that he was looking for a worker’ he was immediately shot. Patrick shot Johnson multiple times, the court document said. Johnson did not have a weapon with him.
Officers said Patrick admitted to shooting Johnson and had two guns on him.
Multiple empty beer containers were found at the scene and Patrick appeared intoxicated and had a noticeable odor of alcohol on his breath, police said.
