ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A 31-year-old mother was shot on Friday afternoon while her two children were in the back seat of the vehicle, police said.
Officers in District 3 of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a shooting in the 2700 block of Accomac Street around 1:30 p.m.
The mother told responding officers that a 33-year-old man, the father of one of her children, shot her while she was driving.
Police said when they arrived on the scene a 9-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl were in the back seat of the vehicle with minor physical injuries from broken glass, police said.
The mother had two gunshot wounds, police said.
As of Saturday afternoon, the 33-year-old man has not been taken into custody.
This is an ongoing investigation by SLMPD's domestic abuse response team.
