ST. LOUIS — A woman was charged Monday in connection with an assault of a police officer that left the officer with a serious eye injury.
Cameria Williams, 35, was charged with first-degree assault of a special victim and resisting arrest in connection with the incident on Friday evening.
According to an incident report, police were called to the 4600 block of Carter Avenue for a fight. When they arrived, they found Williams and a 16-year-old girl getting ready to fight again.
Police said the officer broke it up and attempted to arrest the 16-year-old. While the officer was trying to take the girl into custody, Williams grabbed the officer from behind.

The 55-year-old officer with 17 years of service was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a "serious eye injury," according to police.
Both Williams and the girl were eventually taken into custody.
The girl was taken to the Juvenile Detention Facility where she is being held on the following charges:
- first-degree assault of a law enforcement officer
- fourth-degree assault of a law enforcement officer
- resisting arrest
- and attempting to escape from custody
Williams was charged on Monday and is being held without bond.
