Texas man accused in Creve Coeur ATM robbery caught on way to airport with $12K in briefcase, police say

Police said over $45,000 was stolen from the ATM.

CREVE COEUR, Mo. — A Texas man was arrested for an ATM robbery on Thursday in Creve Coeur. 

Mylek Freeman, 23, of Missouri City, Texas, was charged with one count of each first-degree damage and stealing $25,000 or more. He is being held on a $100,000 bond. 

According to Creve Coeur police, around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the 11400 block of Olive Boulevard after an alarm went off. An abandoned truck and a damaged ATM were discovered.

According to a probable cause statement, the abandoned truck was used to pull down the ATM and had been stolen from St. Louis County. 

Police said over $45,000 was stolen from the ATM. 

Surveillance video found a second vehicle associated with the incident, which was located in the 2800 block of Nebraska. Shortly after, police saw two people get out and watched one get into an Uber. Officers followed and stopped the Uber, at which point police said Freeman got out and ran but was quickly apprehended.

Police said he had nearly $12,500 in cash in a suitcase that was left in the Uber. The driver told police that Freeman had brought the suitcase into the car and that he was taking him to the airport.
