JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — More than 5,200 Missouri residents have tested positive for COVID-19, the state announced Friday afternoon. The St. Louis area alone accounts for about two-thirds of the state’s cases.
On Friday, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported 5,283 coronavirus cases and 165 deaths.
However, the numbers reported by the department do not include 17 deaths and 110 cases in the St. Louis area, which brings the totals to 5,393 cases and 182 deaths.
According to the state health department numbers, St. Louis County accounts for 2,088 of the cases and 72 deaths, the most of any county in Missouri.
The St. Louis area accounts for 3,700 cases and 133 deaths.
