WENTZVILLE, Mo. — Wentzville police are still looking for answers after a 33-year-old mother of three was killed in a suspected hit-and-run.
Traffic returned to normal on East Pitman Avenue Tuesday, as police continued their investigation into Nadia Nasciemento's death.
Police briefly blocked off the road and flew a drone in the area Tuesday. Meanwhile, a car sits outside a local business, the same vehicle Nadia was in Monday night with a friend when they had car issues and she started to walk the road for help.
Police say she got about 40 yards away. That's where someone passing by found her lying in the road and unsuccessfully tried to save her life.
Workers said road conditions are already bad at the end of business Monday, and they got worse as temperatures dropped and sunlight disappeared.
"The buildings are pretty far spread apart, so it would have been pretty dim, pretty dark," said Alissa Birkemeier, who works nearby. "You would have probably had to have your brights on you if you wanted to be able to see anything."
We also spoke with Nadia's fiancé who is taking care her of her three young girls while police look for the driver responsible. Anyone on the stretch of road between 7:15 and 7:45 Monday night is asked to call police.
There's also a GoFundMe account that was started to help the family pay for these unexpected funeral costs.
