ST. LOUIS — Missouri voters selected physician and attorney Dr. Bob Onder Jr. on Tuesday to replace Republican Blaine Luetkemeyer in the U.S. House of Representatives. A high margin of voters chose Onder over Democratic nominee Bethany Mann, Green Party nominee Bill Hastings and Libertarian nominee Jordan Rowden.
Luetkemeyer announced in January that he would not be seeking reelection and planned to retire at the end of December. Since 2013, he has represented the 3rd District, which covers Columbia, Jefferson City, St. Charles, St. Peters and Wentzville as well as parts of Jefferson and Boone counties.
Onder, who lives in Lake St. Louis, earned degrees from Washington University, Washington University School of Medicine and Saint Louis University School of Law. He previously represented Missouri’s 2nd District in the State Senate from 2015 to 2023 and the 13th District in the State House of Representatives from 2007 to 2009. He also co-founded the Missouri Senate Conservative Caucus.
Onder believes in fighting illegal immigration, opposes abortion and wants to cut taxes.
