ST. LOUIS — St. Louisans know we have some pretty diehard Blues fans.
However, when you break down the numbers, the Gateway to the West isn’t the best place for hockey fans. It’s not even in the top 10.
St. Louis ranked as the No. 11 best place for hockey fans, according to statistics from WalletHub.
The city that came out on top? Well, it's that place that seems to always find a way to beat St. Louis in championship games... but hopefully not this year, #LGB.
WalletHub used 21 factors to determine the best cities for hockey fans, including best-performing NHL teams (Boston was No. 3), highest NHL stadium capacity (St. Louis was No. 5) and highest NHL fan engagement (Boston was No. 3).
But what especially brought St. Louis down—and Boston up—wasn’t the pro teams, it was the college hockey fan base.
Boston ranked as the No. 3 place for NHL fans but was first for NCAA hockey fans. St. Louis was No. 11 for pro-hockey fans and No. 56 for college hockey fans.
Here are the top 10 cities for hockey fans:
- Boston
- Detroit
- Pittsburgh
- Chicago
- New York
- Newark, N.J.
- Anaheim, Calif.
- Buffalo, N.Y.
- Tampa, Fla.
- Washington
