ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals will not begin their series Tuesday due to heavy rain expected in the area throughout the day.

The Cardinals were set to begin a two-game series against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday, but both games will now be played as part of a split doubleheader on Wednesday, the team announced late Tuesday morning.

The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 12:45 and the second game will begin at 6:45. Tickets for the game scheduled for Tuesday night will be valid for the 12:45 game, and fans will also get a ticket voucher for a future Monday-Thursday home game.

Tuesday's rain is the remnants of Tropical Storm Beryl moving through the area. The storm made landfall in Texas as a Category 1 hurricane early Monday morning. Now, the remnants are heading north into the St. Louis region.

By Tuesday night, there will likely be a band of 2" to 4" rainfall through the 5 On Your Side viewing area.  This is in addition to the rain that fell during strong thunderstorms Monday afternoon.

A flood advisory was issued for Crawford, Iron, St. Francois, Washington, Franklin, Jefferson and St. Louis counties until 5 p.m. Tuesday. According to NWS, an advisory is issued when flooding may cause significant inconvenience and, if caution is not exercised, could lead to situations that may threaten life and/or property.
