ST. LOUIS — Former St. Louis Cardinals Matt Holliday has been dropped from the BBWAA 2024 Hall of Fame ballot in his first year.
The 2024 Baseball Hall of Fame results were announced Tuesday with Holliday receiving less than 5% of votes on his first ballot appearance. He received 4 votes for 1%.
Candidates must receive 75% of votes to be elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Those who receive less than 5% of the votes are dropped from the next year's ballot.
The outfielder played for the Cardinals from 2009-2016. In 982 games in St. Louis, he hit .293 with 1,048 hits, 237 doubles and 156 home runs. He was also part of the 2011 Cardinals World Series winning team.
Former Cardinals outfielder Carlos Beltrán and St. Charles native Mark Buehrle were also on the ballot but were not selected. Beltrán received 220 votes for 57.1% of the votes while Buehrle had 32 votes for 8.3%.
Beltrán had 181 votes for 46.5% in the 2023 Hall of Fame ballot. Buehrle had 42 votes for 10.8% in 2023.
Adrián Beltré, Joe Mauer and Todd Helton were selected to the Hall of Fame.
Beltré had 366 votes for 95.1% and Mauer received 293 votes for 76.1%, both in their first appearance. Helton made his sixth ballot appearance and received 307 votes for 79.7%.
The three will be inducted on July 21.

Former Cardinals player Scott Rolen was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame with 76.3% of the vote in 2023. He was inducted alongside Fred McGriff on July 23, 2023.
