ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Cardinals are placing outfielder Tommy Pham on waivers, according to reports.
The Athletic's Katie Woo reported the move Thursday, citing team sources. The move would allow another team to claim him and join their roster.
Pham was acquired in a three-team trade ahead of the MLB trade deadline last month. St. Louis acquired pitcher Erick Fedde and outfielder Tommy Pham from the last-place Chicago White Sox in the trade.
The move comes just three days before Major League Baseball's Sept. 1 deadline for postseason eligibility.
The team's Thursday win against the San Diego Padres put them back to .500 for the season with a 67-67 record.
