CHICAGO — The St. Louis Blues are heading back outdoors for the 2025 Winter Classic!
The National Hockey League announced Wednesday night the Blues will face its rival the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2025 Winter Classic at Wrigley Field.
The game date and start time will be announced at a later date.
This will be the team's third Winter Classic. St. Louis previously played the Blackhawks in 2017 at Busch Stadium and the Minnesota Wild in 2022 at Target Field.
The 2025 Winter Classic will be the Blackhawks' fifth appearance. Chicago has faced the Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins in previous outdoor games.
In 2017, the Blues defeated the Blackhawks 4-1 with goals from Patrik Berglund, Alex Steen and two from Vladimir Tarasenko.
In 2022, the Blues won 6-4 over the Wild in the bitterly cold Winter Classic. At the start of the game, the temperature was at -5.7 degrees, the coldest NHL outdoor game in history.
The announcement confirms an earlier report from the Chicago Sun-Times announcing Chicago would host St. Louis at the home of Major League Baseball's Chicago Cubs.
As of Wednesday, the Blues have a 26-21-2 record (54 points) and sit in the second wild-card spot in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The team will face the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, Feb. 10 in its first game back from the All-Star Break.
