St. Louis Olympian results: How local athletes faired in Paris

There were 12 St. Louis area athletes who journeyed to Paris to compete on the world stage. Here's where they placed in each of their events.

PARIS, France — The 2024 Paris Olympics are well on their way and residents around St. Louis are cheering for their hometown heroes as they compete on the world stage.

Ceremonies, gymnastics, soccer, and more marked the beginning of the Games on July 26, which will last through Aug. 11 with over 10,000 athletes representing their respective countries.

Multiple athletes from the St. Louis area have qualified for the Games, with some already finishing their competition. An updated list of the athletes who have given it their all, and where they placed, can be found below.

St. Louis Olympian results: 

Freddie Crittenden III, 110m Hurdles - 6th Place

The St. Louis native Freddie Crittenden finished sixth in his heat in the men's 110-meter hurdles finals with a time of 13:32. Despite not getting a medal, he was all smiles just moments after the race when Rene Knott interviewed him.

Brandon Miller, 800m - Eliminated in semifinal

Despite not qualifying for the semifinal during men's 800-meter Round 1, John Burroughs School grad Brandon Miller made a comeback during the repechage round when he finished first in his heat, allowing him to advance. Miller finished last in his semifinal heat on Aug. 9 with a time of 1:45:79.

Alex Shackell, Swimming - Gold and silver

The St. Louis-born swimmer earned a gold medal in the 4x100-meter medley relay and a silver medal in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay with Team USA. She also competed in the Women's 200m Butterfly and did well enough to move on to the event's finals on Aug. 1 at 1:30 p.m. She was crowned the 6th fastest 200m Butterfly swimmer with a time of 2:07.73.

Tyler Downs, Diving - 8th Place

The Ballwin native competed in the synchronized 3m springboard on Aug. 2 at 4 a.m. and was crowned the 8th best in the world.

DeAnna Price, Hammer Throw - 11th Place

The Moscow Mills native threw 71 meters in her third throw of the women's hammer throw final on Aug. 6, which did not qualify her to participate in the final three throws. She finished in 11th place.

Patrick Schulte, Soccer - Eliminated in quarterfinal

The St. Charles native and Saint Louis University graduate fought hard in the quarterfinal match against Morocco, but were eliminated from the Olympics tournament after being beaten 4-0 on Aug. 2, at 8 a.m.

Karissa Schweizer, 5000m - 10th Place

The former University of Missouri track star earned a spot in the 5000-meter final that announcers on the broadcast described as the best in the history distance. She finished with a time of 14:45.57, about 17 seconds behind the winner, Beatrice Chebet of Kenya. Schweizer was the top American finisher of the three runners in the race.

Karissa Schweizer, 10000m - 9th Place

Schweizer also competed in the 10,000-meter final. She finished 9th with a time of 30:51.99, about 8 seconds behind Beatrice Chebet of Kenya, who would also claim the gold in this race.

Aaron Shackell, Swimming - 400m Freestyle - 8th Place

The St. Louis-born swimmer advanced in the Men's 400m Freestyle final. He was crowned the 8th fastest 400m Freestyle swimmer with a time of 3:47.00.

Jayden Ulrich, Discus - 18th Place

The East Alton native ended her Olympic journey in the preliminary rounds. She finished in 18th place in her heat and was unable to advance.
