ST. LOUIS — St. Louis CITY SC has traded midfielder Aziel Jackson to the Columbus Crew in exchange for cash.
CITY SC received $325,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money and $325,000 in 2024 from Columbus. St. Louis could also acquire an additional $250,000 if certain performance-based incentives are met.
GAM can be used in several circumstances for a club including signing players new to MLS, re-signing existing players, offsetting acquisition costs and more, according to the club.
Jackson arrived in St. Louis in 2023 and recorded one goal, four assists and played in 25 matches. This season, he has played in 15 matches and recorded one assist.
“We want to thank AZ for his time and contribution to our team as he played a key part in our successful inaugural season,” said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. “This is a mutually beneficial trade that provides us flexibility to potentially strengthen the roster in the summer, while giving AZ a fresh start in Columbus.”
St. Louis will be in action twice this week. They host the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday and then Atlanta United FC on Friday. CITY SC currently sits in 11th place in the Western Conference with a 3-4-9 record (18 points).
