ST. LOUIS — Light snow and freezing drizzle have left roads covered around the metro St. Louis area and resulted in several accidents through Tuesday morning. The area of snow has moved away, but with temperatures holding in the teens, even treated roads may be slick.
Locally, around 1 inch or less has fallen across the St. Louis area and another round of snow and sleet is on the way Wednesday. Areas south of St. Louis could have freezing rain and sleet through the day Wednesday into Thursday morning.

The greatest threat for significant winter weather is across southern Missouri into southern Illinois where a significant ice storm is possible. The heaviest precipitation will stay south of the metro area, but travel around the area could still be hazardous at times during the day Wednesday into Wednesday evening.
Even colder weather is expected toward the end of the week into the weekend. For some, it will be the first time below zero since January 2019.
