ST. LOUIS — A Weather Impact Alert for early Friday morning due to dense fog. A dense fog advisory is in effect most of eastern Missouri into parts of southwestern Illinois, including the St. Louis metropolitan area. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, was expanded into the metro area as the clearing line moved across the Mississippi River.
The dense fog will cause visibility to drop to less than a quarter of a mile in some areas. The low visibility could lead to hazardous driving situations. Drivers are advised to exercise extra caution, reduce speed, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles while traveling through affected regions.
The advisory covers several counties in eastern Missouri, including St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and areas to the west and south, as well as portions of southwestern Illinois, such as Madison, St. Clair, and Monroe counties. The fog is expected to dissipate by late morning, with clearer skies anticipated as temperatures rise.

While the fog is expected to lift by mid-morning, areas of patchy fog may linger in low-lying areas for longer periods. Areas near rivers and valleys are particularly prone to persistent fog this time of year.
