Man shot to death in south St. Louis identified

ST. LOUIS — Police have identified a man who was found shot to death in south St. Louis Monday afternoon.

Police were called to a home near the intersection of Bates Street and Colorado Avenue a little before 3 p.m. for a report of a shooting. They said the victim entered an apartment and interacted with a resident, who shot him. 

When officers arrived, the man was unconscious and not breathing. He has since died. Police identified him as 56-year-old Clenelle Johnson.

Police said they arrested the suspected shooter, but are still working to determine what led up to the shooting. They also recovered two guns from the scene.
